The STe has no hardwired memory, the SIMM sticks is all memory there is.

You can use these configurations;

- 2x256 kbyte total 512 kbyte
- 4x256 kbyte total 1024 kbyte
- 2x1 MB total 2 MB
- 4x2 MB total 4 MB

It is also possible to mix two 256 kbyte and two 1 MB, but then you need a software patch that fixes a TOS bug for memtop.

Your opening of the STe was extremly ugly, it is very possible to remove the metal sheliding without breaking the case.
