no the glue chip is ok - changed that - i don't get any desktop whatsoever - i have noticed the FDC (floppy controller) chip gets warm if i leave it plugged in after a while - though perhaps this would be normal to a certain extent? the other chips around it (DMA/SOUND,TOS) all remain cold
