I think your numbers are on the high end. Nonetheless, I'm of the opinion that a CF card will reliably last at least one year in an ST if it's the primary drive, and far longer if it is the backup drive (far fewer writes). If you keep backups (on CD or CF), I think the CF option is viable for ST/Falcon computers.
