some older NEC colour nec will do colour on atari st/mega/ste/ you must not ground hirez pin on the atari plug. i got 2 monitors NEC and it works perfect. use a non colour,
NEC GS2a monitor to replace your atari-124.
cut off the end of the plug find the red white and blue wire and ground all the rest.
red is video
white is vertical
blue is horz.
no audio wire on nec.
ground all outhers.
on the atari plug pin 1 is video
pin 11 vertical pin12 is horz.
pin13 is ground.
look in the atari 1040 manual for pin output.
i think pin 4 is audio and you need to ground hirez detect pin also.
