Environment Variables are not covered well by most
GEM applications, it's a bit of a step-child inherited
from the CP/M days.
I think the earliest application to let you set the
environment variable was the "MUPFEL" of GEMini.
Other desktops like Thing or TeraDesk allow to change
them, too. But i don't know of any other, stand-alone
tools to do that. Have you tried browsing FTP-servers ?
Regarding the online-time, in a multi-tasking environment,
the STinG dialer can display that. So i assume you would
like to have it displayed in a single-tasking environment ?
