I don't think the drivers for the enhanced serial ports were properly finished, or they didn't work with STinG properly. It's a bit weird really, the CPX and so on could see the ports, but the actual dialer itself couldn't. This was highly frustrating and for several weeks had me repeatedly hitting my head against a brick wall in frustration!
