I had similar problem on my tt when I installed mint a few months back. The problem was something with the old version of Extendos I was using (2.4a... I think?). I upgraded extendos to v4.5 and the problem went away. Spin is an option but I don't think it supports dvd format..or does it? I know Extendos does.
