yeah a short while after I posted I feared people would get the wrong end of the stick.....
I'm literally am only allowed to spend £50.
As to what a computer is worth that's a different matter.
if I had lots of money & you offered me a TT....with a good amount of ram (20 megs in all or more?) and in descent condition, then that would be a different thing....how much is it worth? as much as I could afford to pay.
If I write here that I'd pay £400 for a TT then every Tom dick'n'Harry will offer me their TT, and I'd get offered a TT with a broken keyboard (ie:- just generally things wrong with machine) for £400?
I would ideally follow the prices of the Apple Mac 68k's for a reasonable comparrison. I've got a couple of 68k macs & they cost me from about £5 to £20, bear in mind postage and a new keyboard, but with Apple Mac, a new keyboard, or other things isn't such a problem as with ST, because there's alot of hardware available and the prices are competitive.
I paid £50 for an Apple Mac Quadra 840av, way back in 2000 or so, & that was considered overpriced by many, but I have got good use from it, it has been reliable, so I don't have a problem with that.
but we have the problem, MagicMac, while nice and does some things, it's not a replacement for an STE or a TT.
Scarcity pushes the price of Atari hardware up I think.
(I do have an STE :) )
