I'm looking at the Afterburner040 docs in Chips'n Chips by Michael Ruge but can't find much that would help you.
Just two questions follow from that:
a.) Did you unsolder Pin 17 from the 030 and connected it to ground instead ?
b.) Is your power supply alright ? The Falcon PSU is weak and might have trouble supplying the Afterburner040.
