Another problem I am having with CuBase Audio thats bugging me...
I have managed to get a few songs from the previous owner, these are nothing special, but come with a few AIF and WIF files to get me playing about, but, the bloody thing nearly always hangs!
Sometimes it hangs when trying to play the songs, and, if it does play them, forgetting that its doing everythign at half speed for a minute, but, as soon as I stop the playback of the song, its hangs.
Anyone know a reason behind this?
My partition size is something I have thought of, and its currently 500MB
Please dont tell me this is so, because ~I have just spent the last few days moving everything off the 4GB onto a 9GB just so I can re-partition the 4GB, and I have now moved everythign back!!!
The Previous owner had a SyQuest 270MB External Job, however, that thing has been a real pain in the RS, because I can power off and re-adjust the cables, or the sliding thingy, for hours before I get it right and it never stays that way, even if it does get found by HDDriver, it might not be able to read the disk, and to be honest, in the week or two that I have had the Falcon, and roughly about the 30 or 40 times I have tried to read it, I have managed to read one disk only twice! - not good.
However, the previous owner used that and he said he had no problems ( he would though I suppose - he sold me the pile of junk ) so maybe I need a small Partition then?
I am wondering then... about setting up one of the 1GB Drives as a few 200MB Partitions?
Would that help?
Anyway, thats only one possibility so, can anyone else suggest anything? I was under the impression that CAF2.6 allows 512MB Partitions... Mine are 500, so just under you see...
Thanks in advance.
Oh, done a couple of other tests with the FDI box, and tryign to sort its speed issues out...
Whether I use the FDI or not, and whether I run FDI_INIT.PRG or not makes absolutely no difference at all.
I have tried a number of DEF files and also no DEF file and they dont help either?
I have written a few tinkles in CuBase Audio, saved them out and loaded them back in and they sound fine ( Midi Only - no audio - still not managed any kind of Audio at all )
Oh, while I am at it...
The Audio bit...
I dont seem to get any of this, but can I have a small number of samples, lets say, some geezer saying "balls up" or something, and for it to play that sample as a simple sample like Breakthru did... It seems to me, that it plays all its samples Directly from the disk? Is that how it is?
Its early days yet, and with this being so slow and unreliable, its making it hard to do any real tests of any kind, so can anyone verify this, or can it do both?
The thign is, that I really dont give a damned hoot about D2D but the ability to playback a few samp[les realyl appeals tome because when I moved off BreakThru onto CuBase, that was the one thign I really missed more than anything.
The Manuals I got with this are either dog-chewed or are full of dirt, so they are not really any good and I dont want to touch them cos they are disgusting.
