Hallo mate.
Thats brilliant.
I am soon about to embark on a quest to get it all back onto CD.
I had done this a while ago, and it was a little bit of a bloody chore, costing me a replacement floppy drive not once, btu twice, and you can only understand when the disks dont work on PC, just how irritating this was.
Anyway... At this time, I need to organise my floppies a little, I could just plonk them in and sort them through when they are in a PC or the TT perhaps ( PC most likely as last time I did it, I used a TOS/DOS single partitioned HD that I could simply plug into either PC or the ST ( I used my old MegaST to do it last time ) or maybe ZIPDisk ( Most likely ) )
Anyway, Im waffling...
Listen, my EMail is:-
me@fatrakoon.co.uk
Just give me a note, every once in a while, keep me on my toes and I will throw you some stuff as and when its done... Or, maybe if you have on for a short while, I will do you a few CDs worth... Make it worth doing yeah?
I know that a massive number of the floppies simply dont work anymore... Thats mostly down to the PD libraries themselves simply buying massive orders of bulk El-cheap-o floppies... Shelf life of about a day half of them.
Anyway, give me a short bit of time like I said... I need to organise my floppies see whats what etc, and do you some CDs yeah?
EMail me in the meantime...
What is the plan on this? A central database of ST PD?
I am not too sure what any of you remember on this, but do you remember a small project that I and a few others had, on tryign to revive the Atari scene?
A name that I conjured up, was the Atari Genesis Project... Back then, I offered to have my collection catalogued ( Which I did ) but no one seemed to give a toss... Actually, thats not fair really cos I sent out quite a few titles, but it soon stopped a few months later and nothign happened since.
a fair while later, I stuffed up and got rid of a load of my Atari stuff, and among the stuff I got rid of, was... Yes, you guessed it... All the CDs that had been organised and catalogued of my Atari kit... I think about 14 CDs worth, and very little of it was duplicated too!
Sods law.
If I do this again, I certainly hope that it will be used... I am more than happy to do it as I want to anyway with me getting back into my Atari's.
Anyway, I have the waffle switch stuck back on dont I?
later.
