Really? You're entitled to your opinion, but I'm not at all in agreement with you on that one. I've always liked Amigas and Ataris because they both had great hardware AND great software. Since CBM's and Atari's decline hardware development has advanced by leaps and bounds while software development has degenerated into a huge, monolithic, bloated, hedonistic abyss of bad programming habits; every application for winblows (including -- no, especially winblows itself) is virus prone, sloppily written, and bug infested. To me, the marrying of great "modern" hardware such as PCI and great classic hardware such as the Falcon or Amiga is the best thing since toilet paper. I love having PCI while being able to totally bypass windows, linux, unix, crapOS, et. al.
I own 20<+/-> Ataris and Amigas, all in various stages of upgrade. My "main" (pun intended) computer is an Amiga just like the one you sold. I would not trade it for ANY pc or Mac on the market today. Hell, I wouldn't trade it for 100 PCs. To me, it is simply that superior of a machine. Granted, I am not into games and I couldn't care less about watching DVDs on my computer since so many new movies suck anyway. And when I do need to do those things, I always have my PC if I need it: a 1.5ghz PIV w/ 256M RAM, AGP video card, and 20G harddrive -- nice machine for the price (Free). Found it in the trash over the summer.
I'll bet you got a lot of money when you sold your Amiga, right? In contrast, what percentage of the $300 PC do you think you might recover by selling it after a year or two? If you find someone really stupid, you might get $25 for it. Most likely it will just end up in the trash. Where it belongs, in my opinion.
