Nah, Atari had an uncanny knack of being able to develop some potentially ground breaking hardware, and mix it up with stupidity.
Hey lads, I have just invented time travel, its a small program that only takes up 2K of RAM... I know, I will program it into a ZX80 and release it so everyone can use it!
Ho hum.
Had Atari used a blitter on the TT, Had they decided to make the Falcon 32 instead of 16mhz, had they used a Mega / TT case instead of the ST one, had they done just a tiny bit more on Computers rather than put all their resources into the Jag, had they done this or that, there are a million and one things that they could so easily have done, but seriously shyte management and even worse advertising put paid to that.
The choice of a non-serial serial port was just one in a very long list of should have's
Hell the TT has 4 of the buggers! - why cant the Falcon have just one eh?
Saying that, the one thing they did get right at least, was IDE
