Ok ok, thats another one.
I will be honest, but I am perfectly happy with my TT. I have just spend a few bob on it, upgrading the RAM ( ST and TT ) which wasnt exactly loose change, I have just stripped it down and cleaned it all up, bought a new HD and CDRW for it ( even though I have still to actually burn anything on it, but you never know... ) and redone the Cabling on it with all new SCSI Cables etc, even though the old ones are perfectly fine.
Then, I think I know, I will give the Falcon another go, cos thats got CuBase Audio and this DSP malarky... So, off I go and splash out on a Falcon, knowing that I have pretty much wasted money on the TT if I go with it, and now I have also sent off my hard-earned euros for a CT63, and guess what?
I still have not been able to have a play with this DSP stuff!!!
Hell, I look at things this way...
When I had an ST, I dreamed of one day owning a TT... Knowing I would never have one, I settled for a MegaST only to suddenly realise that The MegaST was still 720K floppy and 8Mhz ( Ouch ). That said, I ended up with it being 16Mhz, and 1.4MB Floppy, plus I had it in a PC Case ( Still got the case, as its been modded to take a Mega Mobo perfectly and I may just find another one day?
That Mega also had its cart port modded and a Stereo Replay mounted internally with its output mixed with the YM2149 output ( The YM being mono obviouly, and well, its was great, but it still took me another 2 years before I finally got my TT, and I think I have lucked out on that because I am trying to think if I have any program that does not work on it, and I cannot think of one? CuBase 2 maybe, but as I use v3 its not a bother.
I got my first Falcon about 5-7 years ago, and I was expecting so much more, it just didnt happen?
The Video display was at best poor, especially compared to the TT, but then looking back, I was comparing 256 colours against 16 so I got an Eclipse and an ATI Card, which failed to run right under Magic, and I ended up selling it, and regretting it ever since!
I now got this one, and I have decided that I will risk everything and throw a load of lolly at it... I see every day, other people with Ataris at utterly thick speeds and always being just that little jealous... Well, no more.
I own 14 PCs at my home. All except my wife's are very high end and I have thrown thousands at them all... I am in a permanent upgrade path with them, as soon as I finish one, I work on anoher, but the Ataris got left behind years ago, so this time, the PCs can get stuffed and its the Ataris turn now.
Hell, I have even sent off my DMA cable to get fixed ( Thanks to barrie @ keychange ) and when was the last time I used my ST FFS?
----
Hang on, what the hell am I on about?
Oh yeah, the DSP...
Anyway, the DSP is perhaps the main reason I came back to the Falcon.
Had it been lacking on the Audio side, I would not have bothered with it perhaps, because, as I said, I love my TT.
