hi Toast

yes i have actually used a little pressure on the chips with the atari on! - also the MMU adaptor on mine is not a socketed type - it's soldered directly to the board and the adaptor goes over the top (fits firmly)

i'm going to try it with a scart lead and see if i get the same result - if i don't i'll suspect the RF if i do it's the damn marpet!
