In addition to the 65C816 CPU (Still available from Western Design Center), and the 1.44 meg floppy controller,I would pretty much like to see everything that you would find on a PC motherboard. Why not ask for the works when you're fantasizing, right?
Maybe it would be possible to make a board that is small enough to fit on a daughter board that plugs into a standard Pentium IV or Athlon 64 motherboard by way of the CPU socket. That would make everything so much easier. I doubt that you would even utilize all the pins on the CPU socket.Then you would have an Atari 8 bit with 16 bit CPU sitting on a modern motherboard with full access to modern day peripherals and components.
