I'm not a SCSI expert, but as far as i recall, there are
several subfunctions of SCSI which may be optional on
some devices and required by others - A good example is
Arbitration.
I suppose Parity is similar and to reduce costs, Protar
decided not to supply that on their host adapter while
maybe your drive(s) require it.
However, if you have a replacement drive now and it still
doesn't work, maybe your Protar host adapter is simply
broken ?
