Just out of curiousity what are you using the compression for anyways? I'm taking it that the LZ77 is a variation of the lempel ziv (IE. loosely related to lzh). I've still got ARJ for the ST around somewhere but it never became very popular in the atari world much like the infamous shrink on the 8bits (which never did go anywhere outside the toronto pirate bbs scene).
