Due to this, companies producing new equipment must comply to strict rules. Freescale have had to do the same. It is mainly about removing lead from electronic devices to help save and improve lives around the world.
The old device is not compliant but due to its popularity they have made equivelent models hence why the model number change.
This should be a like for like item as far a usage is concerened.

Be aware that although the chips might work on the standard Falcon you will need to do a modification to allow you to run the chip faster than 16Mhz. So your 33mhz FPU can run faster than in a stock Falcon.
