MagiC is a /commercial/ preemptive or cooperative Operating System for Atari. It works on ST's, TT's and Falcon's. There are Hades and Milan versions available. There are also PC and Macintosh versions (MagiCPC and MagiCMac respectively) However running MagiC on a Falcon can sometimes lead to some annoying problems (even more so then other versions). Check out the interview with evl/dhs on MagiC Online (http://bengy.atari.org/evl.htm) for a non-biased view on it. The most stable versions of MagiC seem to MagiCMac and MagiC Milan (Note that the Milan version, because of its infancy, still has some very crucial bugs which need to be removed)
The advantages of MagiC.. well, some say it's like Windows for atari. It's a no brainer. Furthermore its updated pretty much twice a year, some say it's more "user friendly"..
Disadvantages: Not as much control as with a full blown mint setup, not as stable, no networking etc. Really just read evl's interview, he does a good job at pointing out these things :)
MagiC is now the offical Operating System of the upcoming Milan060 too.
jinnee is a replacement desktop shell, which is really aimed at being used in conjunction with MagiC. It supports features from the Macintosh and Windows desktops aswell as adding its own. It is a commercial program distributed by ASH and made my Manfred Lippert (Read the interview on MagiC Online http://bengy.atari.org/mani.htm)
Other alternatives would be Thing (shareware) which works just as well with MagiC as it does Mint (really if you choose the mint path choose thing, as jinnee doesnt support mint fs)..
