Well, seems as the consensus is that it should work, so i'll try again.

Currently Running :

Falcon Tos 4.04 (not found)
4MB Ram

Extendos 3
Yamaha CDR/W 8/8/24

HD Driver 7.5 ( 8 & 6 won't recognise this HD Drive??!)
Compaq 9.1 (Scsi 3)

Thanks for replies,

I am aware that Zero X reads Akai floppies, not sure whether it can read the CD's though?

My intention is to have the Akai in the Scsi chain and use the CD from either Atari or Akai.

If this gives further clues to solutions!
