Well, you wont see it in v5.3 either UNTIL you attempt to actually copy a disk with an over-sectored track.
It happens like this:
You are copying a game with an over-sectored track, the copy happens normally,, then you put in the destination disk. When it hits the track with the high number of sectors, the write stops (but the drive remains spinning) and v5.3 than puts a message on the screen litterly instructing you to open the drive and slow the motor down, The speed is being monitored (which is why the drive remain spinning) when you hit the right speed, the program throws up a message that the speed is correct and to hit return to continue! the track is then written. After the track is written, the program pauses again, instructing you to speed the drive back up! When you then get back to 288RPM +/- 3RPM the program then says that's OK and hit return to continue. The copy then finishes normally.
You can see how this would get tedious... Hence the need for the Autospeed mod,, it creates a permanent second "lower gear" for the drive motor and v5.3 will sense and use the mod automatically.
The mod consists of a few resistors and potentiometer (trim-pot).
As far as copying realm of impossibility goes, v5.3 has to be able to copy it...
After all, I have "a copy".
Also, don't forget to try using combinations of the more exotic copy options like the HWA (Happy wins again) mode. :)
Sometimes when you think you cant copy a disk, a certain combination of copy options will do it.
That's why old Happy folks like myself used to keep a journal on "how" to copy certain disks.
When I get the v5.3 software imaged I will upload it to a couple of the Atari related FTP sites and then post the URL to the folder/s.
