What version are you using? I had problems (well have) with V049 Beta and mounting drives, V048 works better for me.
I also noted that there are a few thing in the config file with reference to booting the hard disk, I did not spend much time on it as I got the new version of Winston which is really good (if you have a fast machine), but you may like to look.
