Normally, this is true, yes, Booting from B: is not normally possible, but there are ways to get it to boot from B:
Some External Drives have a switch that does this, so maybe shorting a pin somewhere will force this issue?
There is also a small program that does it...
How, I dont know, so maybe setting some parameters and re-booting maybe, and therefore forcing B: to be seen as A: - I dont know?
