I also have no bracket and I use Compact Flash Cards in Adapters.
I have no bracket as I said, and so, what I have done, is simply have the card in an Anti-Static bag and its fine like that.
It fits fairly nicely next to the FloppyDrive and I have in fact used the FloppyDrive cable to perch the CF Adapter on.
Elaccy band hold it in place fine.
As to the types of Card that you can use, I have not yet found one that has been problematic.
I have Integral, SanDisk, Verbatim, and more recently I bought a SanDisk Extreme III and so far, they have all been flawless.
I am currently using a dual Adapter with a 512MB SanDisk Extreme 2 as C: and an 8GB Extreme 3 as C: to K: mixed FAT/LNX and they are great.
Only one issue with CF Cards and that it that you need HDDriver v8 to boot from them, which apparently means that you cannot use CuBase Audio.
However I found no such issues ever with CuBase Audio & HDDR v8.16
