ok well after lot's of messing about and using the PCB from a working monitor i've finally got somewhere

it's still dim even after swapping it for a fully working PCB

so for sure it is either ther CRT or the L.O.P.T that is the cause

can anyone advise if there is anything i can do? otherwise it's spares i think..... :(
