Ah, the old Commodore 64 eh?
I used to write programs for the C16 & Plus/4 and then on to the C64/128
I made masses of money back in the 80's with the 8Bit CBM Machines. I made more money with taking 3 companies to court though, I cannot nme them, its part of our settlement... Come to think of it, Im not sure they still exist these days?
Anyway, I agree, the Falcon for me was a dream too!
Its been somewhat knocked back from my expectation of it.
I expected so much more than I got. frankly it never did deliver.
Im not moaning ( Yes you are ) but my first Falcon was a 1MB Model with no HD. At the time my STE had 4MB and a 2GB HD and was running MagicOS. The Falcon never stood a chance.
My Second Falcon was a 4MB Job, this time with a 120MBHD and I also bought an Eclip[se PCI Adapter and an ATI RAGE Graphics card.
Sure, I got the Rage to work sort of, but it was simply too slow and near to useless... By this time I had been using a TT for a couple of years. The Falcon is dreadfully slow compared to a TT and to be honest, I was very happy with the TT.
This is now my third Falcon, and I ahve spent and spent and spent on it non stop and I have still to spend on it some more.
When I first had it, the guy sold it off because it was just so unreliable, I myself have rarely had more than a few weeks of good use out of it, with the exception of one program... CuBase Audio?
I really dont know why, but this is the one program that has never failed and yet it crashes even if it tries to unzip a file?
I have also upped it to a 90Mhz 060 and still CuBase is flawless but near to nothign else works for long at all?
Now, in saying this, I have just been working with it and for maybe 2 months it was rock solid, it ran stuff as it should and it has been good, and I tried to install MiNT and ever since then, its gone downhill again... Again, CuBase works fine, but nothing else does.
Im really unlucky with this Falcon, but Im not giving up... Its been a dream for almost 20 years to actually own the fastest clone or Atari around and the CT63 @ 90Mhz certainly puts me well up there with the big ones.
If I ever get it to run right, I will have my dream.
