Hmmm ... It's possible that the modification you have has
exchanged the 32MHz clock with a 36MHz clock. This
does not affect VGA display since this is being run over
a 25MHz clock but will most probably produce an
out-of-sync on most TV/RGB monitors.
Do you have a Screenblaster or similar external resolution
extension handy ? If so, you could try to bypass the internal
clock and run over an external one.
