It is pretty confident about working with just about anything non-standard with a floppy drive. I guess the clever stuff mediating the USB device and floppy drive connector is built into the box, so it ought to work.

Still loads of question marks about speed of access, data transfer and seek times, limit on size of external device etc.

Anyway, My UltraSatan is on its way right now :-)
