The ST has a fairly poor choice of options.

If you want colour then you have 640x200 and if you dont need colour then its 640x400

The 640x400 mode is lovely and crisp when used with a SM12x Monitor and to be fair, the 640x200 mode is good when used with a proper monitor also, but only until you use the 640x400 mode.

After that you realise how poor the ST really is.

So, yes, you can use a SCART connection to get it connected to a TV, but you really do need a proper monitor. TVs are kind of tuned to give a softer focus while monitors need to be crisp and sharp. Thats why, when you try using an old TV as a monitor, you find its quite fuzzy and almost out of focus a little.

For what its worth, I used my old Monitor from my Amtrad CPC464 on my ST until I got my first ever Mono screen. I never bothered using Colour after that, and in fact I ended up getting my TT purely so I dont have to go back to STMED ( 640x200 )

I had to do some adjustments though which are dangerous if you dont know what you are doing and there were some potentiometers inside it to adjust the RGB Signals because the display was very dark, but once I got it right, it was brilliantly crisp.
