Yes, a printer is a printer, they all go by certain rules, which were laid years ago!
Obviously thre are different specs, and so different drivers, but as long as you can get hold of a driver for it, you can use it.
There are also many drivers for one type of printer, that will work with a completely different one! - also most good programs allow you to design your own driver, or modify an existing one!
All printers will print normal characters ( Few exceptions like the pound sign etc ), but as you want an inkjet you obviously want to print grafix too!
Try a HP Deskjet2 driver for it! - its a popular one, ( Driver that is! ) and it runs my olivetti Lazer, and the PaintJet quite happily! - funnily enough, the PaintJet is colour, but it still works ok with papyrus?
