If you are getting the desktop but with no icons it is likely that the Atari cannot
see the floppy drive. I have had the same problem with an ST. The solution for me was to buy a new floppy drive. So, perhaps yours has died too. Pefore rushing out and buying a new floppy drive, just check that the floppy drive is still connected properly.
