Heh, I know only too well what you´re trying to do, tried that myself ten yrs ago. Forget it, you need a host adapter! The ONLY (?) things that could be connected directly to the ASCI port, as far as I know, are those Megafiles. I´ve been trying to duplicate my LINK´s for ages, but they won´t let me... BTW, since IDE has a 16 bit bus, (ACSI has only 8) I suppose an IDE controller has to be connected to the cartridge port??
If you gonna use a LINK, then go back to Nick´s site and DL the "SCSI NOTES" textfile, it´s very worthy reading and also shows how to build terminations, the LINK won´t work without one.(must be active)
As for the floppy wireing; You won´t need the "drive 1 select" signal, unless you have two drives. And there´s some signals missing? I´ll mail you the correct schema, but can you find that 14-pin floppy connector anywhere? good luck.
Think I won´t need any floppy on this old ST, cos I´ll hook it up to the PARCP network. Then it can access ALL drives on ALL the other machines, including my Falcon´s CD-burner (maybe not the scanner...) and the peesee´s CD/HD´s/floppy too, eh :-/ ...
Check Paralellcopy out, it´s here:
