I thought your ST was an old model, without internal floppy cable?? OK, if it has that cable, then it´s a STF or STFM. Just plonk the drive in. Don´t forget to check the jumpers on the drive, it must be jumpered as drive 0, NOT 1!
Now, if there´s no floppy connection inside, then your ONLY choice IS that 14 pin "FLOPPY DRIVE" connector on the back of the machine! (between the "modem" and the "hard drive" connectors)
Did you DL that "Atari floppy port" info from Nick´s PINOUTS site?? It says "14 PIN DIN FEMALE at the Computer." This IS the pinout for THAT connector! And the "internal drive" info is the pinout for any shugart floppy drive. With these two pinouts, as I said before, you should be able to build the cable? Hey, I don´t know if the Atari floppy connector is the same as the ones used for 5.25" drives? Try it out, and if it fits, you´re lucky! Just build the adapter. :) Else, these connectors can be hard to find... Try Radio Schack, or something. At least ELFA in Sweden have them ;) Good luck.
