I purchased a Jaguar RGB Scart lead a while back and I used a Philips CM8833 MK1 monitor. This monitor is about 13 years old now and is still in use, but as I have a Scart lead for my jaguar, I've connected it to my widescreen TV instead. Though the picture is far superior on my monitor.
You mention a ST monitor. Do you mean an Atari monitor? I thought the Atari monitors only had a 13-pin din plug specifically for the ST? The mono ones are like this anyway.
Anyway, you want a new monitor. I don't know the sync of modern monitors, but I think you'll find they run higher than the Jaguar frequencies of 50 Hz (UK jag.) or 60 HZ (US jag). Check the specifications in the manual of the monitors you are interested in to see if they support these frequencies.
Good Luck.
