Hey Mike!

***********
If different companies come up with the same computer with a different
brand name they will all make advetisements for the system. If only one
company makes them only one company will advertise them. (They NEED alot
of advertisment bucks to make it work!)

For instance in 3DFX would have only produced their own Voodoo based
graphic cards they would have never been such a big hit. They wouldn`t
have had Diamond, Creative, Realvison, etc, etc doing advertisements.
************

This doesn't change my point in any way. I think that PSX is the best advertised computer product at this moment. This advertising is funded by only one company (Sony). So good advertising does not necessarily mean that multiple companies have to be involved.

**************
And many companies were interested in the Amiga but the highest bidding
ones were only planning to buy it to be sure that it will stay dead.
**************

Can you produce any proof for this? I find this rather hard to believe. You're actually trying to make us believe that companies stood in line to finish off the Amiga. This does not sound like business to me. I bet you'd love this to be true, but there is no reason why it should be. Conspiracy theories are usually invented by people who are not willing to admit that something would have happened anyway.

****************
After the Escom fiasco I think Gateway 2000 is a suitable company to own
the Amiga technology.
****************

Yes, Gateway 2000 is a *great* company. They have proven their excellent business theory in the last decade by inventing... errr... by shifting a helluva lot of boxes. Oh yeah, and they also printed a cow-pattern on their boxes! Maybe that's what will make the new Amiga sell millions... ;)

*****************
Note that Amiga will only use the Neutrino Kernel
they will add their onw GUI and "revolutionary" stuff.
*****************

So Amiga will use a third party kernel and will add "revolutionary" stuff to it. What's gonna be so revolutionary about it then?

*****************
Yes there are many companies making software for the new machine but the
"real" development systems will be available in september or something.
*****************

Names? And by the way, does that "or something" mean that it's probably gonna be delayed even more?

*****************
So now the companies mainly program C++ written applications for PPC
based Amigas that they will ported to the Development System when it is
released.
*****************

But ofcourse these programs cannot make use of the new "revolutionary" functions now, so these companies are effectively producing software for the incredibly big AmigaPPC market, which is supposed to be outdated in september (or something).

*****************
The difference with other communities it is far better
organised.
*****************

This is the *only* sensible argument I've heard that might explain why the Amiga community is different. I cannot check this argument. All the other arguments are unchecked assumptions.

*****************
Well almost nobody know about "Transmeta"
*****************

You're certainly right about that. What the h*** is it?

*****************
You can`t hurry
these 3rd party companies as they want to make the best technology there
is. Meanwhile it is better to just concentrate on the technology that
you do have power over like the OS.
*****************

So actually the "new Amiga" will be a third-party developed machine with an AmigaOS-alike OS based on a third-party kernel? By the way, it's really encouraging to know that Amiga Inc. doesn't have any power over it's third party suppliers. This type of situation is a definite guarantee for the success of a new machine...

****************
that I can`t share with you as this would not be
appropriate.
****************

Why not?

****************
If you are interested you should check the Amiga website
(www.amiga.com) as they will release the info when the time is right.
(They will do some major announcements this month!)
****************

They'd better make some major announcements because there's only three months left before they are supposed to release the first development machines. Then again, some people are expecting another delay already... ;)

Cheers,

/Peter. (who dislikes 3rd parties) :)
