Yes, you can use such a big HD, but the clusters would be HUGE, if you don愒 split the drive up into a bunch of smaller partitions.
We just swapped IDE drive in the lab愀 Falcon, from a Toshiba 2.5" 224MB, to a Quantum 3.5" 850MB. No problems, except the big clusters. (8152 bytes on a 212MB partition.)
If your new drive is a 2.5", then just plug it in. If it is a 3.5", you will need an adapter connector, cos the 3.5" flat ribbon cable is wider in size than the 2.5" cable in the Falc.
If you move the original 2.5" connector a bit down the cable, and place the new adapter connector up at the end, then you can use both drives at the same time. Just cut off leads 41-44, AFTER the 2.5" connector, cos the 3.5" drive only use 40 leads. Those last four only feeds the 2.5" drive愀 motor with power.

IF you use KOBOLD to move the stuff from the old drive to the new one, then DON幅 USE VERSION 3.5!! It愀 buggy and WILL mess the new drive up completely! (happened to us) Version 3.0 is OK.
Well, hope this helps. Good luck.
