The PC do read DD disks formatted with 720K, 729K, 738K, 747K, 800K, 810K, 820K and 830K. If your doesn't, it's a problem with the Operating System, not the PC. Linux can read and write those disks just fine, but you have to specify # of cylinders and # of sectors/cylinder if you are going to read/write raw images. If you mount them you don't have to do that. % setfdprm /dev/fd0 DS DD sect=10 cyl=82 # Set parameters for the floppy % cat /dev/fd0 >disk.st # Read disk to the file disk.st % superformat /dev/fd0 DS DD sect=10 cyl=82 # Format floppy % cat disk.st >/dev/fd0 # Write disk.st to floppy
