My drive unfortunally doesn't like using more than 82 cylinders, but yours might do! If you want to try more than 83 (default max) cylinders you'll first have to do a: # floppycontrol --tracks=86 (or something like that, check "man floppycontrol") That sets the limit to 86 cylinders. If you don't want to use the script, here's the syntax: Reading raw disk to file.st: # setfdprm /dev/fd0 DS DD sect=10 cyl=82 # cat /dev/fd0 >file.st Writing file.st to disk: # setfdprm /dev/fd0 DS DD sect=10 cyl=82 # superformat /dev/fd0 DS DD sect=10 cyl=82 # cat file.st >/dev/fd0 Checking that it was written ok: # fdflush /dev/fd0 #(flush floppy cache) # cmp file.st /dev/fd0 The above (of course) assumes the disksize is 820K... :) For some unknown reason, dd doesn't seem to work...
