I know about that setting (internal/external) in the flashboot, I have that set to cecile since I use it to boot the machine. I doubt is has got anything todo with my problem. I had a brief look underneath my motherboard the other day, looking for dodgy soldering but I couldnt see any. (they can be hard to spot, I know.)
My scsiHD is sometimes making screaming noises (hehe) and that might be caused by a faulty scsiport on the ct2, I have another, smaller, scsiHD thats works perfect with the ct2, though I havent used it very much since its quite old, any ideas?
