Hi John,
Are you using NoSTalgia &/or PowerST. I use both on my iMac.A and used DuST

to create blank 350k and 720k disk images. I then "load" the blank image into NoSTalgia/PowerST and copy any files I wish to transfer over onto the blank disk image. I haven't spent any time trying to figure out why, but if I create MSA images I can't write to them. I have to create .ST images and then convert them back to .MSA using DuST for use on my STe. I have a program which can also create Atari disks from .ST disk images but it's the only one I could find, is two years old, has lots of nagverts and it's been more than a month since I wrote to the author. I didn't want to commit to a format (.ST) with so little apparent support.
I'm curious as to what "disk transfer" program you are using - is it DuST? I don't know of any utility that does what you describe (not that it doesn't exist) so can only offer my above suggestion.
