Well, Atari has had is wonderfull years, but now it is practicaly over.
Software such as Calamus SL99, Papyrus 7, NVDI 5, Magic 6.x, HDDriver 7.x are still superb software packages... On a Windows machine they don't make good software like that, its always far to large and therefor to slow!
What Atari computers need is a real powerfull CPU! Even the 68060 on 133 Mhz is not enough to beat the current running PIII 550 or G3 Mac's... The VGA-card in the new Milan computers are too slow! S3 Trio is a card that was good on Pentium 100 or less, but not for 24 or even 32 bit colors in 1280x1024 screen resolution...
For years I was an Atari user, but now they are only there to play with, just to try out how good Aniplayer is, what Calamus 98 demo can do, to impress friends of my Atari TT (it was there in 1991 and look for yourself what it can do!!!).
Everything you can do 10 times faster, easier, cheaper on an ordinary home PC, Windows compatible.
If you run a company you'll understand it! You can easily creat your own applications using the latest developments, collect all the information of your company in the largest database ever seen, networking is so easy and usefull, ... I can go on all night!!!
Nevertheless, if you feel to buy a Milan and run all the latest Atari software... just do it!
You'll never achieve all what you can do with one Pentium III, but you can do a couple of things as good as it gets, but it'll cost money, some extra time and you can't use every hardware product on the market!
For those who laugh at someone asking for Adobe Photoshop for Atari: you might be right, but keep that to yourself, tell us something interesting, something new!
