If you look at the serial number on your Jag (underneath, under the barcode), I think you'll find it starts with 'M......'
The ones that start with a K are K-series, and the ones that start with an M are M-series, rather unsurprisingly.
The two letters refer to the two different revisions of the Jag. Most notably, the K series had a problem with a slight hissing noise (as discussed in the Jaguar FAQ). Mine does this, and also has a green power light.
The main changes that were made between the two models were the fixing of the hiss and some re-arrangement of the internal circuitry. I also think the joypads were different between the two, as the pad I got with my Jag has black keypad buttons and fat, italicised lettering for the numbers. I bought a pair of pads from GoAtari (www.goatari.com), and these both have grey keypad buttons, nicer lettering for the numbers and a thicker, less flexible cable than the other. This is unconfirmed though. I think this quite likely though, as my first pad has a serial number starting with a B and the others have them starting with a G.
This was discussed at the GOATstore (Games Of All Types, not the animal - www.goatstore.com) on the letters page. Have a look at the March 15 letters (in the archive at the bottom of the page).
Hope that enlightened you.
