Normally, the ST uses 9,10, or even 11 Sectors per track, and yes, it is possible to have, for example tracks 0-10 with 11, then 11-20 with 10, and 21 onwards with something else, but this is NOT a normal thing, and unless anyone knows different, this cannot be used normally either!
You would have to write your own disk R/W routines, bcause of the way the ST handles disks.
The information is stored on the disk, and it only has the one byte to work on!
i.e
when the O/S looks at what the disk is, it sees that the disk has 80 tracks, with 10 sectors per track, and its got 2 sides.
At best, you would need to bypass the bios to tell it that all Floppies have "X" number of sectors in tracks "Y" to "Z", and so on, and do it this way!
Or, at least I would have thought so anyway.
The Max No. of Tracks on a Disk, is I think 86.
But, not all Drives can handle this. Most will go to 83 or 82, and I even have one, that has trouble with 81, so for that drive, its 80!
Is that all ok for you?
