What I find to be the problem is that the Coldfire is not instruction compatible with the 680x0 chip set by a long shot (OK some is but a lot is not). There will need to be emulation software developed and people (I think even motorola) say that the speed will DROP by about 4 times when emulating.
You can't say 'the 68000 did not have an MMU or FPU so this unit does not need one', that is crap as software has been developed to use these things - if that's the thinking then why are they putting PCI bus, USB, etc these were never in the original TOS machines.
I do not think I will buy one of these units unless it is PPC, there is a lot of software about for the PPC to emulate 680x0 when MACs and Amigas and even Atari (Tempest)) moved to PPC, why are we being different? for once we need to conform, 'Cut of you nose' etc.
