Yeah, but did Flashback need all the power of the Jag? I don't think so - of course I hated that game but I don't think it would have been any better even if it was programmed correctly. It seemed to be the same as all the versions I have seen (for hating the game I saw it on most of the consoles).

To replace the 68K it would have to be instruction-compatible unless you were planning on never playing any official Jag games again ;)
To tell the truth, it wouldn't do a whole lot of good to most games. The 68K is not the main processor, it just boots the machine and reads the keypads (by default), although some lily-livered developers wrote the entire game for it because they couldn't face learning the Jaguar DSP and gfx chips ;) (Flashback, I think).
It might also mess up some games using the 68K for timing, although I'm not sure about this.
On balance, it's probably not a good idea. Although if you want to try it and tell us what happened, go right ahead.
