yes you can use the ram from an old 386. I've bought plenty of PCs just to trash them for the memory for my Ataris. :o) Best to use 4 matching sticks and remove the existing ones.
Under the hard disk trap door there should be a small card with a 50 way connector. You just attach a standard 50 way ribbon cable and a standard SCSI hard disk.
I have a 1.2Gb Seagate in mine. Big drives are tricky but not impossible to fit in this machine. You need to use HD driver or ICD tools as the Atari hard disk formatting software cant cope with more modern drives.
