3 chip is 1meg by 9 or parity. The Atari dosent use parity so don't worry. 2 chip is 1meg by 8 or no parity, typically. Try 4 identical 2 chip simm's and see how you go. If the are 2mb (been in the industry 6 years, and never heard of 2mb simm), dont worry you won't hurt the STE.
