Seems like You´re doing things in the wrong order ;-)
You can use the old tape trick on a HD disk,
but then; use ECOPY to format the disk in the ST,
and don´t forget to activate the "ibm compatible"
button... Then your peesee should be able to
use that disk. (only standard 9/80 DD)
...But why bother with disks at all?? Goto:

and download PARCP 3.80, and enjoy DISKLESS
transferring of files between your machines...
