I've been reading this conversation and just want to make these comments:
I just sold my own 4MB Atari STE setup, c/w SCSI Zip, 1GB of ZIP disks, ATARI colour monitor, loads of original software and mags for GBP150. Some might think that this is a bargain, others maybe that it's too expensive, but I sold the gear, and had no trouble with the asking price (maybe I should have asked for more when companies such as System Solutions ask for over GBP100 for a second hand ST alone!)
This is the second time I have sold Atari stuff and people will pay your asking price if it's reasonable, and anyone who thinks that they can get something for nothing in this world is obviously too tight fisted or is living on a different planet.
Of course somethings do increase in value when they are in short supply (such as paintings when the artist that did them died, or when a resource becomes rare). But then again certain things devalue as well (just take a look at all those Amiga 1200's you see for sale in the admags because no-one wants them anymore).
The point is, people put their own price on an item and if you don't want to pay the asking price for something, then negotiate or look elsewhere BUT DON'T MOAN ABOUT IT!
Steve.
